While there’s no shortage of stunning wedding venues to choose from in Edmonton, AB, I was especially impressed with The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. I recently had the pleasure of photographing Stacy & Mike’s Edmonton wedding and they kicked off their big day at the Fairmont. While they held their incredibly romantic wedding at another location, the Fairmont was such an elegant choice for bridal portraits & getting ready. I was blown away by the Fairmont’s unique blend of old-world charm and modern amenities, and couldn’t wait to share more about this couple or this venue!

The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald

The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald is a gorgeous 105-year-old hotel and wedding venue in Edmonton, AB. With stunning views of the North Saskatchewan River and elegant turn-of-the-century features like crystal chandeliers, the Fairmont is a photographer’s dream. Their website says it best with, “Every fairytale wedding needs a fairytale venue,” which was incredibly fitting for a fairytale love story (something Stacy’s bridesmaid said in her speech) like Michael’s and Anastasia’s. They began their wedding day by getting ready at the Fairmont followed by first looks and portraits, and I can’t wait to shoot there again!

First Look at The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald

For couples who dream of a more sophisticated wedding, the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald is an excellent choice. From its grand staircase to its intricately designed ballrooms, every corner of the Fairmont offers a picturesque backdrop for your special day. The exterior of this Edmonton venue was the perfect backdrop for bridal portraits with Mike and Stacy. They shared first looks with breathtaking views of the river after sharing the morning (and celebratory drinks & cigars) with their bridal party in the luxurious suites. It was a beautiful start to an amazing day with an even more amazing couple!

Stacy + Mike’s Intimate Edmonton Wedding

Stacy and Mike’s Edmonton wedding reflected their deep love for one another and the joy they share in their relationship. If it wasn’t clear by the way they looked at each other at The Fairmont, the handwritten vows they exchanged certainly proved their relationship is one built on a foundation of romance that people often only read about. Dressed in warm autumnal shades of burnt orange and dusty rose, their bridal party shared heartfelt speeches about Mike and Stacy at their Edmonton reception. As one bridesmaid read “Wedding Poem” I was reminded of the start to their day, overlooking the North Saskatchewan River when she read the line, “I wish you love like a river that twists & turns.” What a beautiful, full-circle moment!

Mike and Stacy were the sweetest, most down to earth couple! I had the time of my life photographing their wedding day, so you can imagine how touched I was to read Stacy’s response at what it was like working with me! “I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Elishya!
