Sparrow Lane is one of those places.

Tucked into the Alberta countryside, Sparrow Lane has this beautiful balance of modern simplicity and romantic countryside charm. With its clean white exterior, expansive windows, open skies and surrounding greenery, it feels both elevated and incredibly relaxed.

I had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful Sparrow Lane wedding while second shooting alongside Hannah Ruth Photography, and it was such a fun day to be part of.

From the soft bridal details to the candlelit reception and golden hour portraits in the tall grass, every part of this wedding felt effortless, intentional and completely at home at Sparrow Lane.

his wedding had the kind of atmosphere that felt effortless from beginning to end.

The soft floral design by Petal For Your Thoughts complemented the neutral, romantic palette beautifully.

Nothing felt overly done.

Everything simply worked together.

And that's one of my favourite approaches to wedding design—creating a day that feels elevated without losing the natural beauty of the setting.

Getting Ready at Sparrow Lane

The getting-ready portion of a wedding day is often where the story really begins.

The anticipation.

The champagne.

The final touches.

The quiet moments before everyone comes together.

With hair by Black Pin Project and makeup by Allure by Chelsea Studios, the bridal look came together beautifully and felt perfectly suited to the light, airy aesthetic of Sparrow Lane.

The bridesmaids wore Park & Fifth, creating a cohesive look that still felt relaxed and modern.

These are the kinds of details that make getting-ready photos so much more than simply documenting what everyone wore. They become part of the story of the entire day.

A First Look Under the Alberta Sky

ne of my favourite moments from this wedding was the first look.

There's something about seeing a couple step outside into the open landscape for a first look that feels so incredibly Alberta.

The wide sky.

The trees.

The quiet.

And then the moment they see each other.

It creates space for the couple to actually pause before the rest of the wedding day begins.

If you're getting married at Sparrow Lane, I would absolutely consider taking advantage of the outdoor spaces for moments like this.

Golden Hour at Sparrow Lane

And then came golden hour.

This is one of the biggest reasons I love countryside weddings.

There is something so beautiful about stepping away from the reception for a few minutes while the sun starts to drop.

For this wedding, the couple wandered through the tall grass surrounding the property, giving us some of my favourite portraits from the day.

The light, the movement and the landscape all came together in a way that felt incredibly natural.

If you're planning your own Sparrow Lane wedding, I highly recommend leaving 15–20 minutes in your timeline for sunset portraits.

You don't need to disappear for an hour.

Just enough time to step away, take a breath and be together.

Those few minutes can create some of the most beautiful photographs of the entire gallery.

A Candlelit Reception

As the sun went down, the atmosphere shifted completely.

The reception became warm, intimate and romantic, with candlelight adding another layer to the already beautiful space.

From the florals and tablescape to the food and cake, the details felt thoughtful without being overly complicated.

NAK's Bistro & Catering took care of the catering, while Wild Rose Cakes created the cake for the celebration.

And of course, once the dance floor opened, SMAVEY kept the party going.

It was the perfect ending to a beautiful countryside wedding.
