Rockwater Secret Cove Wedding Photographer | Sunshine Coast BC
As a Rockwater Secret Cove wedding photographer, I love how many different settings there are throughout the property. Rockwater Secret Cove is one of those places.
Tucked along the Sunshine Coast in Halfmoon Bay, BC, Rockwater feels less like a traditional wedding venue and more like a little coastal escape. Surrounded by forest, ocean views and beautiful West Coast scenery, it is the kind of place where your wedding can feel like a full weekend away with the people you love most.
I had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful Rockwater Secret Cove wedding while second shooting alongside Blush Wed Photography, and it was such a fun day to be part of.
The weather changed throughout the day, the forest was moody and soft, and then the sun came out at just the right time. It was one of those wedding days that felt completely at home on the West Coast.

Why Rockwater Secret Cove Is So Special
One of my favourite things about Rockwater is that the property gives you so many different settings without ever feeling like you're leaving the wedding.
You have the forest, the ocean, the boardwalks, rocky shorelines and beautiful spaces to get ready and celebrate with your guests.
It feels elevated, but not overly formal.
Romantic, but still relaxed.
And honestly, that combination is pretty hard to beat.
For couples travelling from Vancouver or elsewhere in BC, Rockwater also has that destination-wedding feeling without needing to travel somewhere far away. Your guests can stay on the property, spend time together and turn the wedding into an entire weekend on the Sunshine Coast.

A Real Rockwater Secret Cove Wedding
This wedding day had such an effortless feeling to it.
The morning started with everyone getting ready before the day really began to unfold. There was excitement, anticipation and all of those little moments that happen before everyone comes together.
The styling by Events by Elle paired beautifully with the natural setting, while Rain Florist brought in organic, romantic florals that felt right at home against the West Coast landscape.
With Filosophi and Katie Plans Things behind the planning, the day felt intentional without ever feeling overly structured—which is exactly what I love about weddings at Rockwater.
And then, as the day went on, the weather kept changing.
One minute it was overcast and moody, and the next the sun was breaking through the trees.
I actually love days like this.
The changing light gives you so many different moods throughout the gallery, and the soft coastal weather feels so true to the West Coast.

Getting Ready at Rockwater
I always love photographing the getting-ready portion of a wedding day because it gives you a chance to slow down before everything starts moving quickly.
The little details.
The final touches.
Your closest people helping you get ready.
The nerves before you see each other.
These moments don't always feel like the “big” moments of the wedding day, but they're such an important part of the story.
The bride's gown from Rituals of Love Bridal and Daughters of Simone added such a beautiful, modern feeling to the day and worked perfectly with the relaxed coastal setting.
And Rockwater's surroundings make it easy to bring that West Coast feeling into the photographs from the very beginning.
The Ceremony Surrounded by the West Coast
There is something pretty special about exchanging vows with the ocean and forest surrounding you.
The setting does so much of the work.
You don't need to overcomplicate the decor when you're already surrounded by that much natural beauty.
The ceremony felt intimate, emotional and completely connected to the landscape.
And then, just like that, they were married.

Wedding Portraits at Rockwater Secret Cove
This is where Rockwater really comes alive for me as a photographer.
There are so many different textures and landscapes to work with throughout the property.
The forest feels quiet and intimate.
The boardwalks create beautiful movement and leading lines.
The rocky coastline gives you those big, cinematic West Coast views.
And then you have the ocean stretching out behind you.
For couples who love photographs that feel natural rather than overly posed, this kind of setting is a dream.
I want you to be able to move, walk, laugh, hold each other and actually experience the moment while I'm documenting it.
The goal isn't to spend your entire wedding day taking photographs.
It's to create enough space for the photographs to happen naturally.

The Best Time for Couple Portraits at Rockwater
If you're planning your own Rockwater Secret Cove wedding, I would absolutely leave some time in your timeline for couple portraits around golden hour.
You don't need an hour.
Even 15–20 minutes can be enough to step away from your guests, take a breath and have a little moment together.
And if the weather changes?
Even better.
Some of my favourite photographs happen when the conditions aren't perfectly predictable.
The fog, clouds, soft rain and changing light can make the images feel incredibly atmospheric and romantic.

A West Coast Wedding Weekend
One of the things I love most about Rockwater is that your wedding doesn't have to feel like just one day.
You can arrive early.
Spend time with your favourite people.
Explore the property.
Get married.
Have dinner together.
Dance.
And wake up the next morning still surrounded by the people you love.
For couples who want their wedding to feel more like an experience than an event, I think that's such a beautiful way to celebrate.
Planning a Rockwater Secret Cove Wedding?
If you're dreaming about getting married somewhere that feels romantic, coastal, intimate and a little bit wild, Rockwater Secret Cove is pretty hard to beat.
Whether you're planning a full wedding weekend or an intimate elopement on the Sunshine Coast, I'd love to photograph it.
My approach to wedding photography is candid, editorial and a little bit nostalgic. I want your gallery to feel beautiful, but I also want it to bring you right back to the way your day actually felt.
The moments you didn't plan.
The people you love.
The way the light looked.
The way you laughed together.
The little moments in between everything else.
And because I've photographed a wedding at Rockwater before, I already have a feel for the property, the light and the different places we can explore together.
If you're planning your Rockwater Secret Cove wedding, I'd love to hear what you're dreaming up.
Let's make something beautiful.
